Rules

Projecting ping-pong balls into cups of lager (or ale if that flicks your switch)… put simply, Beer Pong is the greatest combination of sport and drinking that the world has ever seen. Invented in the US, Beer Pong involves skill, tactics, balls, and the ability to down a drink or two.

There are a few slight variations depending on where you play (always check the house rules) but as a general guide:

  • The game typically consists of two teams, each comprising two players, at either end of a table (roughly 8ft in length)
  • Multiple cups (usually 6 or 10), are set up at each end of the table in a triangle formation
  • Both players on one team shoot, followed by both players on the other team, with the aim to sink your ball in your opponents’ cups
  • When a ball lands in a cup, which is typically a quarter full, that cup is removed from the formation and the defending team must consume (or ‘scoop’ as we like to say) all of the beer inside that cup
  • The ultimate aim of the game is to eliminate the other team’s cups before one’s own cups are eliminated

As a wise man probably once said ‘The best way to learn something is through experiencing it first hand’, so rather than swotting up on the rules we recommend you come along to our next event. We guarantee you’ll soon pick it up and in next to no time you’ll be mixing up your bouncers, lasers and loopers, sinking rather than rimming, and wondering what life was like before you discovered beer pong.
